"Show Boat," the raucous song-and-dance, opera-and-musical hybrid has kept audiences rolling down the Mississippi for more than 80 years, and was one of the first Broadway shows to address racial inequality. The Washington National Opera production, at the Kennedy Center through May 26, features all of the love, longing and loss, belted out in the deepest bass and soaring soprano voices, by a huge cast of characters in some of Broadway's most iconic roles.
